POOR DEVIL IS EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THAT WE ARE NOW A PARTNER WITH 1% FOR THE PLANET.

For us (Jared & Laura) we’ve taken to our core the idea that if something is worth doing-it’s worth doing right.  As we’ve grown Poor Devil over the years we’ve focused on doing everything we can to maintain transparency, integrity, community, and collaboration as the pillars for our mission. This is an important next step in accountability for a brand on planet earth.  We look forward to keeping you updated with the details of the non profits we are planning to partner with as a part of this program.

Here’s a little more about 1% for the Planet and how you too can get involved!

1% for the Planet was founded to prevent greenwashing, certify reputable giving and provide accountability. The 1% for the Planet certification is given to businesses that meet the commitment—donate 1% of annual sales to environmental causes. It was started in 2002 by Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard and Craig Matthews, founder of Blue Ribbon Files. The idea was simple: because companies profit from the resources they take from the earth, they should protect those resources. 

The intent of 1% for the Planet is to help fund these diverse environmental organizations so that collectively they can be a more powerful source in solving the world’s problems. — YVON CHOUINARD 

1% for the Planet drives critical philanthropic support to address the most urgent environmental issues facing us.  Their network shows the strength of the power of collective action by bringing together individuals, businesses and nonprofit organizations around the world to support people and the planet. From their website- We recognize that we cannot solve the climate crisis without recognizing the disproportionate impact of environmental issues. We exist to ensure that our planet and future generations thrive. However, achieving this goal requires a multi-faceted approach that addresses both environmental and social justice.
